Planning a Kitchen or Bedroom in Ely
Getting to you in Ely
Ely is about 30 miles from our Peterborough workshop, usually 45 to 50 minutes depending on route and traffic. It sits comfortably within our 80-mile service area, and we schedule survey and fitting days so that our team can work full days on site without rushing.
The homes we see in Ely
Ely's homes reflect the city's long history: period houses and terraces around the cathedral and city centre, plus a growing number of modern homes on the newer developments around the edge of the city. Properties near the historic centre often have high ceilings and original features, while new homes tend to have open-plan living spaces.
What that means for your project
If your home is listed or in the conservation area, internal fitted furniture is usually straightforward, but changes that affect original fabric may need consent. We'll raise this at the survey. For open-plan new-build spaces, we often design the kitchen, utility and media wall together so the finishes and proportions work across the whole room.
Which of our services suit Ely homes
Many Ely households commute to Cambridge or work from home part of the week, so fitted home offices and desks built into spare bedrooms are among the pieces we are asked for most. In the period houses around the cathedral and city centre, tall ceilings and alcoves suit full-height fitted wardrobes, dressing rooms and kitchens with tall larder units, designed around original features. In the open-plan new homes on the developments around the edge of the city, we usually design the kitchen, utility and media wall as one scheme so the finishes run through the whole living space, and fit sliding wardrobes in compact bedrooms. Everything is made to measure at our Peterborough workshop, fitted by our own team and covered by a 10-year guarantee.
